As an application program, an enterprise resource planning system (ERP system) supports all task areas and processes of a company, such as procurement, production, sales, accounting and human resources. With the use of standard application software packages, resource planning is supported and data redundancy is reduced.

Integrated software system for efficient resource planning in the ERP system

Through integration, ERP enables a process-oriented organization. The interface to the ERP system in the goods receipt process, for example, takes place as follows: Before the material receipt actually takes place, preliminary information is provided in the best case with the help of a notification. This includes information such as item, quantity, storage location. A bridge to the ERP system is created via notification and the storage units in goods receipt are scanned with a laser scanner.

The benefitsof integration are obvious: time savings, automation, increasing transparency and rapid information provision.

In addition to various providers of enterprise resource planning systems, there are numerous open-source solutions. Since in-house system development requires a high level of expertise, the purchase of standard software can be worthwhile despite the high acquisition costs. Although the source code of the software is not accessible, the user receives a tailored range of products and services from the provider. In addition, in closed-source licenses, product responsibility rests with the developer, which provides the user with an assurance of the quality of the system
