A rack can be divided into vertical zones based on the scale of an adult (average size of 1.70 m). The gripping zone starts at an average height of 60 – 80 cm and reaches up to a height of 1.40 – 1.60 m.

Employees can reach the gripping zone without additional aids. Therefore, this area usually contains goods that are considered to be high-traffic.  This saves time during picking due to the quick removal of goods and the easy removal of goods means that little energy is consumed by employees.
