Logimat is a trade fair for the fields of material flow, information technology and distribution. It takes place annually in Stuttgart and is the largest logistics trade fair in Europe. Since 2014, there is also an annual edition in China, first in the city of Nanjing and since 2019 in Shanghai. Both events are initiated and organized by Euroexpo Messe- und Kongress-GmbH Munich.

In the broad field of logistics, Logimat (proper spelling: LogiMAT) primarily serves the intralogistics sectors as a trend and industry barometer as well as an information exchange and functions overall as the leading trade fair for intralogistics. At its first edition in 2003, 3,700 visitors attended, and at the last edition in 2019 before the corona-related cancellations in 2020 and 2021, almost 62,000 visitors were found at the Stuttgart trade fair center. In 2022, a regular edition was held again in Stuttgart after a two-year break.

Initially, exhibitors came mainly from the software, IT and identification systems sectors, as well as from materials handling and warehousing technology. In the meantime, the points of contact between intralogistics and other sectors have increased enormously, and Logimat accordingly also reflects these intersections. For example, trade and logistics are increasingly intertwined due to the global flow of goods, making intralogistics processes more and more important for efficiency at the interfaces of production and transport. For this reason, the TradeWorld – Platform for Modern Trade Processes has been integrated into Logimat since 2014. This is a trade forum that addresses e-commerce and omnichannel solutions.

As part of the trade show, awards for the “Best Product” are also presented. As a rule, these are exhibitors’ products or services for which the jury of experts created for this purpose concludes that they manage to increase intralogistics productivity, reduce costs or increase the efficiency level of processes. Following their selection process, the independent jury, which is made up of representatives from research, media and industry, will choose the winners in the following categories:

  • Software, Communication, IT
  • Picking, conveying, lifting, storage technology
  • Identification, packaging and loading technology, load securing

Logimat pursues the self-declared claim to impart knowledge, set trends and show visions. What is to be achieved by expert forums and live demonstrations, in which the attendees can experience intralogistic solutions directly, respectively exchange with experts of the respective domains. The aim of the event is to simplify investment decisions and to avoid that the trade fair is perceived by potential interested parties as an ordinary advertising event. Instead, the organizers pursue the approach of offering a comprehensive market overview of the technologies (hardware and software) for intralogistics requirements and process management.
